review-d2

I had heard many reviews which said that d2 is the desi version of James bond but I am sorry to say that whoever said that either have dozed off during the course of the movie or haven’t seen James Bond; more appropriate would be the desi version of Baywatch. We have ash bips & everyone except abhishek roamin around with the most minimal clothing.
Not much of a storyline. The chor -Hrithik(Mr A) is a gadget freak who has a fascination for numbers . Abhishek brings in ash to spy on him; however she turns his approver & in turn double crosses Abhishek. I still don’t understand why bips was included in the movie, she plays a cop in the first half & a girl roaming around in bikini in second half (double role). Udhay plays the ever loyal sidekick & is the sole person who gets noticed for his acting, He does induce some laughter among the audiences.
The strong point is first & foremost the body show by Hrithik, ash & Bips. End of the day I guess u remember the lip lock & the super toned bodies & curves & the Rio carnival (Tourism Brazil!!!). The action sequences are good however gets overshadowed due to lack of script & logic. Sanjeev Gandhi has marketed his movie well with coke ads!!! however a movie can only be enjoyed if it has some sort of storyline, this movie completely ridicules that very concept.
verdict: watch it for the heck of it.
prediction: hit/average
rating:2/5

Review-baabul.

After Baagbhan Ravi chopra's latest from the stable is Babul (release 8/12).The movie deals with widow re-marriage. Amitabh, Salman , Rani , Hema & John pla the central characters in d film & must credit ravi chopra for his exceptional character selection. All the stars undoubtedly deliver what is expected out of it from dem except maybe John whose performance is nothing but amatureuish.
Amithab plays the father of Salman (avinash), whose wife is played by hemaji. The father son relationship is more that of friendship & fun. Enter Rani Mukherjee as salman's love interest & everything seems to be rosy by far until Salman meets with a fatal accident. Rani life is devastated & that’s when Amithab takes the firm decision to remarry his daughter in law, & ultimately wins over the heart of orthodox & narrow minded relatives.
Although the theme sounds familiar & the plot very much typical bollywood ishhstyle what sets this apart is the way the movie is actually taken. The feel is very contemporary & the director has been meticulous that pomp & splendor is not overtly exhibited What amazed me the most has been the camera work-the happy times have been lit up well & the sad times have captured the gloom as well. Rani has managed to get a fresh lease of life in terms of her looks & as always is reliable in terms of her acting. Salman good run continuous & performs his otherwise ordinary role with extreme perfection. He seems to have an aura of calmness & mischievousness at he same time & looks mind blowing. Its seems like stability & success with his personal life is rubbing onto his work as well. Amithab role was crucial & he manages to do his best & intricately exhibits a father’s love for his son & compassion for his daughter-in law.Hemaji makes her performance felt.
The movie is relatively fast paced & keeps the audience engrossed & maybe for parts of the second part & movie is really enjoyable but thanks to good plots the second does presents some emotional moments & does not disappoint.
The flipside however is the lengthy dialogues which gives spoils the spontaneity of the situation. John may have been a success in dhoom but he has got to mature in terms of his acting(esp. a disbelief scene is too bad).Overall the movie is definitely worth watching & end of the day it does leave a message & takes home a few memorable scenes like salman son in his closet etc.
Ratin-4/5

Sanjay Dutt-messiah or criminal???

Here is a man who has turned 47, always considered an integral part of the industry, who has even attained d superstar status yet somehow is somewhat mellowed when compared to his contemporaries(very few memorable roles). His professional life have seen a lot of ups & downs jus like his personal life. Considered the original bad boy of the industry, Sanjay considered himself to be the black sheep of his family. Coming from respected background was not a reason for him not to drugs or befriend dreaded gangsters, yet there seems to be the innocent persona that he has created around himself- maybe that’s the reason why the industry staunchly protects this lad till date. The industry seems to have a renewed confidence in him with over 100 crore riding on his fate. Bonan rani for instances feels that whatever mistakes that Sanjay must have committed is because he was too gullible.
Thanks to his fathers' connection there is no dearth of support from the political front as well. This deadly dutt let down his image to the run up to the judgment day when he looked blurry eyed, shaken & desperately in need for some sleep. So is Sanjay after all the clumsy fool that the industry claims . Is he "munna Bhai"-the messiah??But what all this overlooks is the suffering of over a thousand innocent individuals whose fate for no fault of theirs took a dreadful blow on that fateful day on March 12 1993.Even though the court must have let him go Scott free is this a real ticket for his clemency? Its been an established fact that Dutt indeed have underworld connection & even that he is a close friend of anees(dawood's bro)& choota rajan. His infamous drug abuse when the banned drug was red herring in our societies, his two failed marriages & alleged involvement with madhuri dixit only goes on to prove that this reformed individual is after all no messiah & indeed has been on the other side of law. His friendship with the individuals who wrecked havoc for thousands of lives & brought shame to this beautiful only implicates him. Public memory is indeed short-lived & like always its just a matter of time that humanity will forget & maybe Dutt may go on to become even bigger star but it is the misfortune of this nation that we have to applaud the people who killed our fellow brothers & in hopeless effort see that whom our youth emulates are the one who brings misfortune among us.
